Gingr E-commerce Project

Senior Dog Vitamins for Every Frosty Dog Face

Once again leaning on my own life experience, I set out to prototype an e-commerce website. Using research from dog-centric e-commerce sites, and also shops that focus on human vitamin needs, I created a shopping flow that was well-branded, showcased a Value Proposition, and was easy to navigate. This is a solo project where I took responsiblities for all the rules: researcher, user experience developer, and designer.

My Process and Findings

  1. #1: Develop a user persona and journey. Since I was relying on a pet health issue I had as a dog parent, I selected a user like myself who was challenged with wanting more control and options to help her aging dog through health supplements.

  2. #2: Research similar businesses and e-commerce websites in order to observe pros and cons from their own design and new purchaser flow.

  3. #3: Develop an e-commerce prototype that kept in all the pros! I kept the user flow shorter and sweeter than most other dog businesses, preferring a shorter journey to the purchase action.

  4. #4: Create branding around a presence that I would trust and be attracted to. I designed a brand that was just like my own dog: cheerful, loyal, and friendly. The clean design lends to a more professional look and feel.

Why This Project Matters to Me

From my recent experience in the veterinary telehealth industry, I have seen how pet parents are taking their pets' health more seriously. With more accessibility to veterinary professionals via chat- and video-based appointments (right from your smartphone!) comes the desire to research and find tailored solutions that work for you and your pet. Supplements is just one more solution for many pet parents out there, myself included!
